UJA Chairman States Beliefs

Frank R. Lautenberg,
general chairman of the
United Jewish Appeal, be-
lieves: the new era the world
is entering is fraught with
peril, but also opportunity
. .. especially for the Jew-
ish people. As we enter thi-s
new era, the link from each
generation to the next is the
cement which binds us.

Martin Buber said that

"men become what they are,
sons of God, by becoming
what they are, brothers of
their brothers." As we em-
bark upon this new era for
the Jewish people, we
pledge to the people of Israel
our unity in brotherhood.
The new Jewish assertive-
ness that we will need in
this era will pose new chal-
lenges to us as Jews and'as
human beings.
