A gift such as this honoring Mr. Fishman is of major consequence. "Sinai's existing depart-- ment treats more than 130 patients a day. It was re- cently expanded to almost double its size in response to community need." The Fishman gift contin- ues a long history of public service and philanthropic activity on the part of the honoree. An immigrant factory worker, Fishman left his job with the Ford Motor Co. in 1919 to found the Star Steel Supply Co. The firm has grown into one of the Midwest's largest dis- tributors of heating and air conditioning equip- ment and building sup- plies. Fishman has served on the board of trustees of Sinai Hospital and is a member of the board of Camp Tamarack. On the occasion of his 60th birth- day, he founded Fishman Village at the camp. Active in Israel Bonds, he received the Isreal Bond 25th Anni- versary Medallion in Miami "for his activities on behalf of the drive," of which he has been a pioneer sup- porter.
