Ran organized Israeli youngsters to dig shelters and fill sandbags, deliver food and newspapers by bi- cycle and man the counters in shops to replace mobil- ized shopkeepers. As a leader in Noar Le Noar (Youth to Youth), the Israeli counterpart of the Bnai Brith youth move- ment, he helped to enlist its 4,000 members in wartime projects. Many Israeli homes are without tele- phones. Ran and his young volunteers set up a message center, delivering calls from soldiers to their families. The volunteering didn't end when the war stopped Noar Le Noar members are still busy with a full sched- ule of community activities.
