TEL AVIV (Zins) — Vic-
tor Polski, a Soviet-Jewish
activist who had just arrived
in Israel, told newsmen at a
press interview that "the
general tendency of Soviet
Jews contemplating emigra-
tion to Israel is to wait and
see what will happen with
Israel, and along what lines
the state will develop."
According to Polski, the
Jews of the Soviet Union are
receiving a picture of condi-
tions in Israel based upon
reports in the Soviet press
and on information in let-
ters for friends and relatives
in Israel. The overall view is
negative, much more so that
was the case two or three
years ago, he said.

MONTREAL (JTA) — A
show of solidarity between
Canadian Jews and Catho-
lics has manifested itself in
a series of joint activities as ___
a result of the latest Vatican
guidelines.

As part of an on-going re-
lationship between the two
religions, the National Reli-
gious Affairs Committee of
the Canadian Jewish Con-
gress and the Canadian
Catholic Conference held a
one-day session at CJC
headquarters here last
Tuesday.

Top priority during the
conference was given to the
problem of starvation in
underdeveloped countries.
Plans are now being 'formu-
lated urging all religious
leaders to assist in pro-
grams that will "humanize
the feeding of these nations
through methods of direct
and specific food commit-
ments."
Another area of concern
was the development of ac-
tivities in order to bring
about a better understand-
ing of the implications in
the Vatican guidelines.
