SARAH LAKER _ Sarah Laker was honored by more than 350 friends, relatives and guests at a surprise birthday party tendered her by her hus- band, Harry, Sunday at Cohg. Beth Achim. Laker, president of the synagogue and a member for more than 40 years, has been married to his wife for 48 years. Their children are Mr. and Mrs. Irving Laker, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Laker and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Laker. The senior Lakers have eight grandchildren. Mrs. Laker came to the U.S. from Padolsk, Russia, in 1925. She and her hus- band are members of the Pinkster Progressive Aid Society, and this year were honored as "the outstanding couple of the year." During the evening the Laker sons paid tribute to their mother in poetry and prose, including a "This is Your Life" sketch. In her honor, her husband donated a mobile amplifying system to Beth Achim, where he is president, and the Pinksker Progressive Air Society con- tributed $200 for new Torah mantles.
