Bnai Moshe Youth Events

Bnai Moshe Senior United
Synagogue Youth will parti-
' cipafe in the Central Region
USY convention today
through Sunday at. the
Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel in
Detroit.
Kadima (grades- 7-8) will
sponsor a mystery road
rally 4:30 p.m. Sunday,
meeting in the youth
lounge. Dinner will be in-
cluded. For reservations,

Kadima is 'planning to
publish a youth_ newsletter

Nominations Due
for Youth Award

Nominations for the
eighth annual Walter E.
Klein Youth Award Are now
open to Jewish community
youth groups.
The award is named for
the Jewish Community
Council's retired executive
director, gild acknowledges
youth groups' services in
behalf of communal con-
cerns and interests.
In the past, tutorial pro-
grams, work with the aged
and the poor, educational
presentations dealing with
Holocaust, and action
geared toward benefitting
Israel and Soviet Jewry have
earned youth group mem-
bers the Klein Youth
Award.
Mrs. 'Bertha Brotman,
chairman of the award
committee, said nothina-
' dons should be submitted
to the Jewish Community
Council before April 11.
, The awards will be pre-
sented at the Council's
Delegate Assembly on
May 22.
Youth group presidents
who wish to nominate their
group for this award should
submit a detailed list of
their activities to Mrs. Ber-
tha Brotman, the Jewish

The halls of Akiva..were
filled with festivity re-
cently. The eleMentary
school was treated to two
plays presented by the kin-
dergarten and the fourth
grade.
The junior and senior
'high schools attended an
assembly in which each
class sang their respective
songs: Following the assem-
bly, each shiur returned to
their classroom to set s up
their booths for the catni-
val.
Shiur Gimel Boys served
hot dogs, pickles and pop.
Shiur Aleph Girls distrib-
uted popcorn. A *horror
haise was set up by Shiur
Bet Girls. Shiurs Aleph and
Bet Boys presented a play.
Shiur Gimel Girls had a
mother-daughter fashion-
show Monday.

Synagogue to GiVe
Israel Scholarship

Cong. Beth Abraham-Hil-
lel has opened competition
for the 1975 Kalt Israel
Scholarship.- Sponsored by
Mrs. Bee Kalt and her fam-
ily, the scholarship will
provide a round-trip to Is-
rael for a teenager, aged

14 18.

Applicants for the schol-
arship must meet religious
education and community
requirements. An essay en-
titled, "Why I Want to Visit
Israel" must also be submit-
ted.
Deadline for applications,
which may be secured from
the synagogue or Hebrew
school and youth office, is
April 10.
