and Sabbath Services are held at Temple Beth El and the
Northwest Detroit Israel Synagogue. .

New RabbiniCal Group
Is Formed in Michigan

A new organization of
area rabbis has been
formed, with a common in-
.terest in Halakha—the
sources and application of
Jewish law.

Known as the Rabbinic
Conference of Michigan, the
group is promoting regular
study and "a cooperative
approach in resloving mat-
ters which require rabbinic
supervision and attention."

Officers include Rabbi
Charles H. Rosenzveig, of
Cong. Mt. Sinai in Port
Huron, president; and
Rabbi A. Irving Schnip-

per, of Cong. Beth Moses,
secretary-treasurer.
The Rabbinic Conference
of Michigan (Moetzet Har-
abbanim 1'Michigan) is
planning a May conference
on Halakha in Southfield at
which -scholarly papers on
contemporary problems in
Halakha will be read by
Orthodox and Conservative
rabbinic authorities.
According to Rabbi Ro-
senzveig, "All rabbis who
are committed to the princi-
ple of the study and applica-
tion of Halakha would be
welcome as members of the
Rabbinic Conference of
Michigan."

Musical Sabbath
at Beth Shalom

Cong. Beth Shalom will
mark Jewish Music Sabbath
today beginning with 8:30
p.m. services. The syn-
agogue choir, directed by
Cantor Samuel Greenbaum,
will perform works by Le-
wandowski, Secunda, Gold-
farb, Mombach, Smolover,
Birnbaum, Zemachson,
Karchevsky and Coopers-
mith.
Members of the choral
group include -Ola Beck,
Freda Mendelson and
Frances Stewart, sopranos;
