Congregations List Passover Services

Passover, the spring festi-
val commemorating the an-
cient Jews' Exodus from
Egypt, will be celebrated in
area synagogues and tem-
ples beginning at sundown
Wednesday.
Named for the biblical
time when God passed over
the houses of the children of
Israel as Egypt was beset by
plagues, the holiday of Pas-
sover is identified by the
seder, a ceremony in which
parents inform their chil-
dren of the deliverance of
the Jews from Egypt.
Area congregations list-
ing services and seders are:
CONG. SHAAREY ZE-
DEK will have its Passover
Eve service 6 p.m. Wednes-
day in the main sanctuary.
Rabbis Irwin Groner and
Howard Lifshitz will offi-
ciate. Thursday services will
be held at 8:45 a,m. with
Rabbi Groner speaking on
"The Question Is the An-
swer," and at 5:30 p.m. The
congregational seder will be
held at 6. On March 28,

Schwartz will conduct the
service, with the temple
choir rendering the liturgi-
cal music, under the direc-

ton.
On March 29 at 11 a.m.,

Passover." Yizkor will be
held 11- a.m. April 2, and

A mock seder will beheld
noon March 29 for the Big
Brother Program With Rus-
sian Immigrant Children,
