ing appointments and hon-
ors:
Dr. Lewis D. Hamburger,
former Baltimore regional
director of the Bnai Brith
Youth Organization, has
returned to that agency as
director of program and
publications at its national
headquarters here.
He directed the youth
agency's activities in Balti-
more frbm 1968 to 1972. He
also was associate director
of the group's leadership
training programs con-
ducted for qualified teenag-
ers each summer at Camp
Bnai Brith in Starlight, 'Pa.

Abe Kaplan of Birming-
ham, Ala., a past presi-
dent of Bnai Brith's south-
ern region, has been
appointed national chair-
man of the organization's
leadership cabinet. Ka-
plan is former president of
District 7.

American Bicentennial.

and co-chairman, respec-
tively, of a special Bicenten,
nial committee to plan and
supervise a series of public

among local Bnai Brith
units, commemorating the
200th anniversary year of
the American Revolution.'
Rockower is a past inter-
national vice president of
Bnai Brith. Mrs. Shapiro is
a former international pres-
ident of Bnai Brith Women.

Blood Bank is one of the

metropolitan area. Mrs.

The Council of Orthodox
Rabbis of Greater Detroit
(Vaad Harabonim) is spon-
soring a public Passover In-
stitute, 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at
Young Israel of Greenfield.
A panel of experts will
discuss both food and medi-
cinal preparations made
kosher for Passover. The
panel will include Rabbis
Leizer Levin, Leib Bakst,
Chaskel Grubner and Sam-
uel H. Prero; Dr. Lawrence
Platt, pharmacist Seymour
Terebelo, and chemists Nor- _
man E. Levitin and Jerry
Cohen.
The council has also-listed

Candle Lighting
Kits Are in Error

A warning has been is-
sued to women and girls
who have received Sabbath
candle kits from Nshei
Chabad that the 'candle
lighting time on the en-
closed calendars in incor-
rect.

According to Mrs. Rachel
Kagan, president of Nshei
Chabad, the women's arm of
the Lubavitch movement,
the calendar was printed be-
fore the state legislature
revoked Daylight Savings
Time.

Grain vinegar - and any
products containing vinegar
are hametz. An articles
made of flour require relia-
ble encloresement by a
"Ray", a properly ordained
Orthodox leader. All fresh
vegetables may be used ex-
cept rice, millet, peas and
beans.
