this week to benefit State of
Israel Bonds.
On Saturday, Jacques
Torczyner, chairman of the
administrative board and
former president of the
Zionist Organization of
America, will address the
Einstein Lodge and Chapter
tribute dinner-dance honor-
ing Allen Charlupski on the
occasion of his 60th birth-
day Saturday evening at
Adat Shalom Synagogue.
A founding member of
State of Israel Bonds, Tor-
czyner, is active in the
United Jewish Appeal, the
American Fund for Israel
Institutions, the Federation
of Jewish Philanthropies
and other Zionist and Jew-
ish organizations.
Humorist Emil Cohen
will be the guest star at

and Chapter tribute din-
ner-dance honoring Ar-

augural meeting for mem-

at his Birmingham home.
The meeting at the Her-
melin home will be used to
plan events for the Israel
Bond campaign. Avner

A non-Jewish Detroiter,
Arthur L. Dietz, has com-
posed the words and music
to a song he entitled
"Israel."
Dietz, who has privately
published several songs to
publicly proclaim his be-
liefs, rejoices in his "Israel"
lyrics the fulfillment of the
prophecy that Israel would
be reborn.
Dietz also sent to The
Jewish News a copy of his
patriotic song, "Our Bicen-
tennial."

Nathan P. Rossen, second from right, Jewish com-
munal leader for more than 40 years, holds a certificate
announcing the establishment of a nahla (tract) near
Kiryat Shemona in honor of the Rossen family on behalf
of the Jewish National Fund. Rossen was accorded the
honor at the Landsmanshaften for JNF celebration
March 5 at Cong. Bnai Moshe. More than 500 persons
heard the Detroit debut of Misha Raitzin, Russian
emigre tenor, and Sidor Belarsky, Yiddish vocalist and
longtime friend of the honoree. Rabbi Moses Lehrman
and Cantor Louis Klein also participated. Charles
Milan, president of the JNF, presented Rossen with a
testimonial on behalf of JNF. Simon Weber, editor of
The Forward, was among the guests. Shown with Ros-

party planning tips and
menus and recipes for all oc-
casions, including holidays.
From the cookbook comes
the following recipes for
Passover:
MATZA-CHICKEN
CASSEROLE
In bowl, beat until
frothy: 6 eggs. Stir in: 1/2
cup finely chopped on-
ions, 1/2 cup finely cut
fresh dill or 2 T. dried dill,
1/4 cup finely chopped par-
sley, 2 T. salt, freshly
ground black pepper.
Add: 3 cups cooked
chicken, in chunks. In
small sauce pan, heat: ',/2
cup oil.
Pour 1 teaspoon of oil
into an 8-inch square bak-
ing dish, tilting dish to
spread it evenly.
To assemble, use 3
squares of matza, 2 cups
chicken stock.
Dip a square of matza
into chicken stock until it
is well moistened. Place on
bottom of baking dish.
Spread one-half of chick-
en-egg mixture evenly
over it. Dip second square
of matza in stock and place
it over chicken. Spread
remaining chicken-egg
mixture on top and cover
with third moistened
matza. Pour half remain-
ing oil evenly over last
matza and bake at 400° in
middle of oven for 15 min-
utes. Pour rest of oil on top
and continue baking for 15
minutes longer, or until
the top is nicely browned.
Serve immediately.

APPLE CAKE
In bowl, beat until stiff:
9 egg whites. ,Set aside. In
howl, beat until thick and
light: 9 egg yolks, J/2 cup
sugar. Stir in: 9 T. matza
meal, 9 T. potato starch,
juice and grated rind of
lemon. Fold in: egg white.
Pour one-half batter
into ungreased 9 x 13"

baking pan. Bake at 325°,
25 minutes. Remove from
oven and spread with ap-
ple mixture.
APPLE MIXTURE
-
In bowl, combine: 6 ap-
ples grated, ',/2 cup sugar,
1 T. lemon, 11/2 T. cinna-
mon.
Spread remaining batter
over apples. Bake 20-25
minutes longer, until
brown.
