Local Contractor

Jacob Weinstein,
Local Physician

Thomas Snider, a me-
chanical contractor asso-
ciated with Snider Plumb-
ing and Heating Co., died
March 3 at age 45.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Snider was a member of
Craftsman Lodge of the
Masons. He resided at 23430
Brandywynne, Southfield.
He leaves his wife, Shir-
ley; three sons, Kenneth P.,
Michael A. and Steven B.; a
daughter, Lori S.; his
mother, Mrs. Max (Ger-
trude) Snider; two brothers,
Murray and Norman of Mis-
sion, Kan.; and a sister,
Mrs. Isadore (Lorraine) Ro-
sen.,

Dr. Jacob Weinstein, a
physician and surgeon, died
Feb. 27 at age 70.
Born in Russia, Dr. Wein-
stein lived 64 years in De-
troit. He was graduated
from the Detroit College of
Medicine in 1938 (now
Wayne State University's
school of medicine) and
completed 25 years of serv-
ice at North Detroit General
Hospital. He was a member
of the American Medical
Association.
He is survived ' by a
brother, Philip R.; two sis-
ters, Mrs. Theodore (Sarah)
Kaminsky and Mrs. Goldie
Wiener of N. Miami Beach.

Eliezer Livneh, 72,
Mapai Co-Founder

JERUSALEM, (JTA) —
Eliezer Livneh, a founder of
Mapai and recently a leader
of the "Greater Israel Move-
ment," died Saturday at age
72.
Mr. Livneh, whose family
name was Liebenstein, was
born in Lodz, attended the
Russian high school there
and came to Palestine in
1922. He was active in the
Zionist movement, Histad-
rut and Hagana and was a
Zionist representative in
Europe. He served in the
Knesset from 1949-1955.

Mr. Livneh left Mapai in
the 1960s over differences
on social and economic is-
sues but later joined the
Labor Party of which Ma-
pai was a constituent.

After the Six-Day War he
joined the "Greater Israel
Movement" which advocates
the annexation of all cap-
tured Arab territories and
became one of its leading
spokesmen.
