Mitzva Mobiles End NY Mission
NEW YORK. (JTA) — A
fleet of 25 "mitzva mobiles,"
closed mobile camper units,
each manned by six or seven
members of the Lubavich
Youth Organization, com-
pleted a mission of street
contact with New York City
Jews for traditional Juda-
ism.
The mission commemo-
rated the 25th anniversary
of the leadership of the Lu-
bavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi
Menachem M. Schneerson.
The goal was to disseminate
the Rebbe's mitzva cam-
paign calling on Jews to set
aside time daily for Torah
study, that all Jews 13 and
older put on phylacteries
every weekday, to assure
that kosher mezuzot were
affixed to doorposts, and
that every Jewish home
have a Bible, prayerbook
and Book of Psalms, and a
charity box for contribu-
tions to a worthwhile cause.
