Editor, The Jewish News;
Thank you for reporting
the urgent need of repair to
the famous synagogue in
Curacao, as well as the fi-
nancial plight of its congre-
gation.
This magnificent Jewish
house of worship is the old-
est Jewish sanctuary in the
Western Hemisphere still in
existence. It was founded
about 325 years ago — al-
most twice the age of our
United States. And it's still
alive and breathing.
Anyone wishing to help
keep the synagogue from
the possibility of collapse
should know that any
amount, no matter how
small, will be appreciated.
Contributions may be sent
to Cong. Mikve Israel, P.O.
Box 322, Curacao, Nether-
lands Antilles.
