NEW YORK — A leading
authority on library re-
sources for Jewish studies
has called on the American
Jewish community to estab-
lish a bibliographic and do-
cumentation center for Ju-
daica as a basic step in
developing Jewish library
resources in the U.S.
Such resources, he ex-
plains, are "the cornerstone
of Jewish scholarship,
which is the foundation of
Jewish culture."
Charles Berlin, head of
the Hebrew department of
Harvard College Library,
calls for the establishment
and maintenance of such a
center in the lead article in
the 4974-75 edition of the
American Jewish Year
Book, which has just been
published by the American
Jewish Committee and the
Jewish Publication society
of America.
In his article, Dr. Berlin
said a center for the devel-

opment of Jewish culture in
the U. could lead to the de-
velopment of Jewish library
resources, facilitate identifi-
cation and acquisition of
Judaica published all over
the world and provide cen-
tralized cataloguing.

be held this summer in New
York.
