BB Women and Girls Plan
Symposium on Soviet Jewry

The Bnai Brith Women's
Council of Metropolitan De-
troit, in conjunction with the
Great Lakes Bnai Brith Girls'
Council, will hold a teach-in on
Soviet Jewry entitled, "Soviet
Jewry — a Message for Today,"
7:30 p.m. Thursday at the
United Hebrew Schools main
building. -

Mrs. Maynard Kalef, presi-
dent of the women's council has
appointed Mrs. Charles Ruben,
BBW Council Bnai Brith Youth
organization chairman, as pro-
gram coordinator. Represent-
ing the girls' council will be Fay
Baker, social action chairman;
and Sherry Grossinger, pro-
gramming vice president.
Sherri Aaron is president of the
girls' council.

A keynote address will be
delivered by Mrs. G. Vernon
Leopold, past chairman of the
Detroit Committee for Soviet
Jewry and a board member of

the Jewish Community Coun-
cil.

Workshop sessions will be
conducted on the following top-
ics: "What Can We Do?", fea-
turing Arnold Michlin, past
chairman of the Detroit Com-
mittee for Soviet Jewry, at Ses-
sion I, and Judy Grant of the
Detroit Committee at Session
II; "Can It Happen Here?" with
Martin Doctoroff, past chair-
man, Michigan Region, Anti-
Defamation League, Session I,
and Robert Naftaly, chairman,
Michigan Region, ADL, Session
II; and "Resettlement" Mrs. Sol
Grossman, president of Reset-
tlement Service.
There also will be two work-
shops featuring recently ar-
rived Soviet Jewish families
who will discuss their experi-
ences. A coffee hour will follow
the workshops.
