Workmen's Circle, LZA to Host `Sholem Aleichem Yidn' Concert

The sixth annual Yiddish
concert, "Sholem Aleichem
Yidn!", sponsored by the
Workmen's Circle and the
Labor Zionist Alliance, will
be presented March 1 at Oak
Park High School.
World-renowned actor, Ben
Bonus, and Russian artists
Emil ,Gorovets and Marga-
rita Palanskaya, will be fea-
tured.
Bonus is one of the leading
Yiddish performers in the
United States. Born in Po-
land, Bonus went to Holly-
wood in 1943 to organize the
Folksbiene Theater, where
"Songs of My People", a mu-
sical cavalcade, was the pre-
miere production. Three
years later, he founded the
Yiddish Mobile Theater. Bo-
nus starred on Broadway in
"Let's Sing Yiddish", which

cow until its extinction, left
the Soviet Union in 1973.
Gorovets, known as the "Jew-
ish Frank Sinatra" while in
the Soviet Union, has sold
mllons of recordngs in Rus-
sia. His Yiddish recordings
were made in this country
after being smuggled out of
the Soviet Union.
Miss Palanskaya is a grad-
uate of the Michoels Drama
School, and she appeared in a
number of the Yiddish State
Theater productions.
Maida, the young. Yiddish
folksinger, and Malke Gott-
lieb, concert pianist will also
