El 'Al Pilot Strikes
Reflect Economic
Problem of Israel

JERUSALEM (ZINS ) —
Citing the frequent strikes
by El Al pilots which have
become a "common-place",
Knesset member Simha Ehr-
lich (Likud) said that the
avior of these pilots is
of of the "collapse of the
economic regime which cur-.
rently runs the country".
Ehrlich said that El Al pi-
lots are better paid than fly-
ers of the more affluent
European countries.
A veteran pilot is paid al-
most IL 12,000 •about $2,-
000) monthly and charged.
only 25 percent for income
taxes. In addition, he still re-
ceives an extra $35 per day
to cover expenses while away
from home.
