Israel Police Hire
Women for Duty

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — The
manpower shortage felt by
the Israeli police has been
reinforced with the recruit-
ment of 1,100 women who
serve on active police duty.
The head of the legal divi-
sion of the police is also a
woman.
There are approximately
7,500 schools in Israel, ex-
c l u s i v e of kindergartens,
which are now in need of
protection to guard against
terrorist attack. Owing to the
shortage of policemen, par-
ents of the school children
have taken over as guards.
