Resident Scholar
Ends Detroit Visit

Yeshaayahu Tadmor, com-
mander of Gadna, the Israeli
youth corps, completed his
seven-day stay in Detroit last
week as a "scholar in resi-
dence."
He described his visit, spon-
sored by the Detroit Zionist
Federation and the Jewish
Community Council, as leav-
ing "a warm feeling within
me."
He said the success of the
scholar in residence program
is caused by the people-to-
people exchange of views.
"I can promise that in my
meetings with Israeli youth
and adults in the course of
my duties that this experi-
ence will find expression both
consciously and unconscious-
ly."
Tadmor spoke to a wide
variety of audiences in the
Detroit area during his stay,
including non-Jewish audien-
ces at Wayne State Univer-
sity and at a Presbyterian
church.
His Detroit visit was pre-
ceeded by a similar week-
long stay in Passaic, New
Jersey.
