Sarakbi said the backing
evaporated because of a suit
filed by the bank manage-
ment charging him with se-
curities violations. The bank
obtained a temporary re-
straining order Jan. 15, but
the order was lifted last
week. The bank board of di-
rectors is continuing the suit,
however.
In a statement, Sarakbi
said he was returning about
270,000 shares in the bank

German Parliament is ex-
pected to ratify this week the
disputed Franco-German Nazi
Retrials Treaty. • If ratified,
Nazi criminals convicted in
absentia by French courts
will be liable to prosecution
in West Germany.

stapo chief Kurt Lischka,
who was sentenced after the
war for his part in deporting
thousands of French Jews to
concentration camps in East-
ern Europe.
Ratification of the treaty
has been speeded up due to
the efforts of Nazi hunter
Beate Klarsfeld. Her trial last
year in Cologne for the at-
tempted abduction of Lisch-
ka brought adverse publicity
for Free Democrat Ernst
Achenbach. He was formerly
a Nazi diplomat in Paris, and
held up the treaty ratifica-
tion - process until he was
fired last autumn.

Program Relocates
NY Elderly Jews

NEW YORK (JTA)
Poor elderly Jews, most of
them widows and widowers,
are being relocated to apart-
ments in safer environments
in Operation Relocation, a
pilot program of the Jewish
Association for Services for
the Aged.
The program, funded with
a $100,000 grant from the
Federation of Jewish Phil-
anthropies, has a target for
relocation of some 100 aged
persons and their families.
More than 50 Jews and their
families have been relocated
since the program got under-
way last summer.
Another 150 applicants are
being screened by JASA or
processed for . relocation by
the New York City Housing
Authority, which provides
rent subsidies to senior citi-
zens leasing apartments in
private housing develop-
ments
