Cong. Beth Achim will ded-
icate its synagogue Feb. 14-
16 with services, dedication
ceremonies and a dinner-
dance. The dedication is the
culmination of six years of
effort, following the merger
of the Beth Aaron and Aha-
vas Achim congregations in
1968. Nearly 3,000 persons
worshipped in the new edifice
on the High Holy Days.
The dedication festivities
will be ushered in at a late
Friday evening service Feb.
14. Rabbi Emeritus Benja-
min H. Gorrelick will deliver
the sermon. Rabbi Milton
Arm and Cantor Simon Ber-
manis will conduct the serv-
ices. The past presidents of
all the synagogue affiliates
will be honored on this occa-
sion. The Bat Mitzva of Ali-
cie Blas, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Blas, will
be observed. Blas is chair-
man of the dedication com-
mittee.
On Shabat morning, the
service will be enhanced by
a choir assisting Cantor Ber-
manis. Rabbi Arm's sermon
topic will be "Making a Sanc-
tuary — for Whom and for
What." The Bar Mitzva of
Robert Corlin, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Corlin will
be celebrated. There will be
a special kidush after the
service.
The formal dedication of
the sanctuary will be con-
ducted at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 16.
A special choral cantata,
"Let There Be Light", will
be presented by a choir of
mixed voices and conducted
by Cantor Bermanis. There
will be a Torah procession
and a program of prayer, re-
sponsive readings and greet-
ings featuring rabbis and lay
leaders of the congregation
and the general community.

War Veterans
Get Braille Aid

NEW.YORK — Dr. Yaakov
Doron, a representative of
the Israel Defense Army
Veterans Association, met
with executives of The Jewish
Braille Institute of America
to secure aid to blinded and
partially-sighted war veter-
ans of the Yom Kippur War.
These war veterans in col-
leges and universities, or vet-
erans planning to enter the
university, desperately need
recorded materials in Hebrew
and English on a college text-
book level.
The Jewish Braille Insti-
tute has a large group of vol-
unteers who will be •able to
record these materials quick-
ly, under the direction of
Richard Borgersen who is di-
rector of the• library of the
institute.
The rehabilitation depart-
ment of the ministry of de-
fense will send regular books
from Israel to the United
States and the Israeli Student
Organization in New York
City will find readers of the
Hebrew books for recording
purposes.
Plans are also being set up
to eliminate customs delays
and for the section for high-
er education (academic stu-
dies) to function as a clear-
ing house. The institute will
also provide large type ma-
terials for partially-sighted
war veterans who wish to
have them.

The friendship of a great
man is like the shadow of a
bush, soon gone.—Anon
