TEL AVIV (JTA) — For-
mer Defense Minister Moshe
Dayan claims that the United
States has reversed its sup-
port of Israel's policy that no
territorial withdrawals will
be made before a final peace
treaty with the Arabs is
achieved.
"And Israel has accepted
this policy," Dayan said in
the third of his series of lec-
tures on the Great Powers'

"The Mystery of Nefertiti,"
a PBS Special Of The Week,
will be presented 8 p.m. Mon-
day on Channel 56.
Starting with the more
than 35,000 sandstone blocks
stacked in warehouses and
strewn haphazardly about
the ancient city Karnak, a
team of scholars, research-
ers, photographers and ar-
tists under Dr. Ray Wind-
field Smith's direction recon-
structed on paper a temple
built in honor of Egyptian
Queen Nefertiti and destroy-
ed more than 30 centuries
ago.
"The Mystery Of Nefertiti"
explores with Dr. Smith his
technique of using a compu-
ter to determine the temple's
size, decorations and the era
it graced. The resulting pic-
ture is captured by artist
Leslie Greener.
The program examines the
project's impact on some
long-established theories
about Nefertiti and her hus-
band; Pharoah Akhenaten.

Relation to the Middle East
Conflict at Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity.
Addressing students and
faculty members, Dayan de-
clared that the U.S., which
supported Israel's no with-
drawal policy three years ago,
now takes the line that Israel
must withdraw, step-by-step.
Whenever Israel does not ac-
cept the Americans' view-
point, the •U.S. applies pres-
sure, he said.
He cited as an example that
when Israel rejected the
Rogers Plan in 1970, the. U.S.
discontinued its arms sup-
plies. He said the U.S. also
uses financial assistance to
exert pressure.
According to Dayan, the
U.S. avoids confrontationwith
the Soviet Union in the Mid-
dle East by applying pressure
on Israel.. For example, he
said, when Russia threatened
to intervene if Israel continu-
ed its advances in the .Yom
Kippur War, the Americans
forced Israel not to advance,
thus averting a confrontation.
