Beth Israel will leave his pulpit at the end of Janu- ary to assume a position on the staff of the Commission on Jewish Chaplaincy. The delegates were Rich- ard Krieger, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Melet, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mitchell, Murray Moss, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pelavin, Mr. and Mrs. Ed- ward Powers and Dr. and Mrs. Jack Stanzler. Mr. and Mrs. Melet were with Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson (D-Wash.) as he met Mr. and Mrs. Gregori Teitle- baum, a Soviet Jewish couple who managed to leave Rus- sia for Israel and then the U.S. According to Mrs. Melet, "Sen. Jackson was proud to see that his efforts helped this marvelous couple. The look of gratitude on Teitel- baum's face will be remem- bered by all those who were present." Many of the Flint delegates attended the banquet at which former Prime Minister of Israel Golda Meir spoke. Mrs. Powers noted that the former premier is "charm: ing, grandmotherly and dy- namic in her simplicity."
