4th Grade
On Nov. 7, Mrs. Peiss's 4th
grade class visited the De-
troit Institute of Arts. We
were taken on a school bus.
We were divided into two
groups, one was led by Mrs.
Peiss, and the other was led
by a guide.
Some of our institute's
pieces are "96 and its Tails,"
a metal sculpture by Alexan-
der Caldef. Another example
is "Cobra" which is a collec-
tion of arts done by five art-
ists. The name "Cobra" is
spelled by the initial, letters
of these artists names.
A third favorite is a desk
owned by Mrs; Horace
Dodge, with buttons hidden
all over it. These buttons,
when pressed would open all
the drawers. At the end of
the tour, our class received
postcards, which showed
scenes from the institute.
The student council is sell-,
ing popcorn to raise funds for
needed equipment in the
school. Also, there is a week-
ly nosh sale to support a
Shakespeare festival on Feb.
18.

Jewish Ship May
Be Arab Hotel

COPENHAGEN (JTA) —
The famed Jewish refugee
ship, Saint Laurence, which
was the temporary home of
2,000 Jewish refugees during
1969-70, may soon become a
floating hotel in an Arab
country.
- The ship, docked in Copen-
hagen's harbor since 1967,
became famous during the
great refugee movement from
Poland beginning in 1969.
Polish Jews coming to Den-
mark lived aboard the ship
while awaiting immigration.
Negotiations are now under
way to sell the ship to Arab
interests and remove it to the
Persian Gulf harbor of Abu
Dhabi.
The ship was originally a
pleasure s h i p, launched
nearly 50 years ago from
Canadian shores.
