Open Sunday 12-4, Evenings til 9 • Coolidge at 9 Mile, Oak Park

The traditional holiday pro-
gram was held Thursday at
Taylor Elementary School in
St. Clair Shores despite the
legal objections of two teach-
ers.
Carol Anne Nehra and
Bruce Crall filed a class-ac-
tion suit in Federal District
Court in Detroit contending
their constitutional right to
religious freedom was being
abridged because the school
program included four reli-
gious songs.
Federal Judge Cornelia G.
Kennedy agreed that some of
the songs have religious con,
notations but ruled the pro-
gram as a whole wasn't of a
religious nature and denied
the injunction.
Gayle S. Boesky, attorney
for the teachers, said, "My
clients had objected to the
Christnias program, because
they were being forced to
participate in its preparations
and attend it."

York from Mrs. Louis J. Schreiber, national president
of the women's religious-Zionist organization, at the annual

layman to receive the award which has been given in the
past only to distinguished members of the rabbinate.
