Her husband, Yuri Vudka has been in Soviet prisons since 1969, after he and other young- Jews in Ryazan, near Moscow, were discovered with "samizdat" literature: "Exodus," Dubnov's "History of the Jews," and other books. She is appealing that let- ters be sent to both the prison and the town to inquire about her husband's well-being and her visiting rights. Soviet authorities refused to allow her to see him at their last scheduled six-month visit in November because their mar- riage by a rabbi is not rec- ognized by Russia.
