Dr. Jack Stanzler, chair-
man of the Jewish Education
Commission, and Richard
Krieger, executive director
of the Flint Jewish Com.mu-
nity Council, met with the
cabinet of the Flint Board of
Education, Nov. 26, to dis-
cuss continued cooperation.
Christmas and Easter pro-
gramming, inservice aware-
ness and sensitivity pro-
grams vis-a-vis Israel and
Judaism with teachers and
all administrative personnel,
and Israel as a major source
of study, were discussed.
Other topics included books
of Jewish and Israeli content,
-and a course called "Bible as
Literature" on the high
school level which deals with
Jewish history.
The board of education
last year arranged for Jew-
ish teachers to do inservice
training on days other than
Saturday. Only five teachers
took advantage of the oppor-
tunity last year, but the pro-
gram will be continued this
year.
Also discussed was the
concept of having students
from Flint high schools go
to Israel for nine to 12 weeks
of accredited study. This
program may be started on
an experimental basis during
the summer of 1975.
