Young Leadership
Awardees Honored

Mrs. Shelby Tauber, Stan-
ley D. Frankel, and Burton
D. Farbman, have been
awarded the Jewish Welfare
Federation's young leader-
ship awards.
The citations are given an-
nually to outstanding men
and women for leadership_
and- service to the organized
Jewish community. The
awards credit accomplish-
ments and encourage the
continued participation of
0- e recipient in communal
tivities.
. Mrs. Tauber, recipient of
the Sylvia Simon Greenberg
Award, is a board member
of Federation's women's di-
vision. An active worker for
the Allied Jewish Campaign;
Israel Emergency Fund, Mrs.
Tauber. served as 1973 and

the William H. Boesky Jun-
ior Division Award, is the
immediate past president of
that division. .
Farbman led the junior
division's campaign as gen-
eral chairman in 1972 and
as vice chairman in 1971.
Farbman served as junior
division liaison to the Fed-
eration Apartments govern-
ing board and Federation's
health and welfare budget.

Memorial Leadership Award
was - created by Mrs. Frank
A. Wetsman and William M.
Wetsman in honor of their
husband and father. It has
been presented annually since
1961.

ior Division • Leadership
Award, Frankel was a junior
division campaign coordina-
tor and is a past chairman of
AJC-IEF's insurance section.

leadership cabinet in 1973,
Frankel now serves as a
regional chairman of that
group and was a steering

committee member of CJF-
UJA Leadership Institute
'held in Detroit last -spring.
Frankel is a member of
Federation's executive com-
mittee, board of governors
and associate chairman of
the education budget and
planning division.
A member of JWF's capi-
tal needs committee, he is
also a board member of the
United Hebrew Schools.

Leonard Weiss, a former
high ranking State Depart-
ment official, has been ap-
pointed representative of the
World Bank in Dacca, Bang-
ladesh. -
Weiss is believed to be the
only Jew now assigned by the
bank to a position equivalent
to an ambassador.
During this 25 years in the
State Department, Weiss was
U. S. Minister for Political
and Economic Affairs in New
Delhi and Minister for Eco-
nomic and Commercial Af-
fairs in Bonn. He also was di-
rector of the department's
Office of International Trade
and Finance.
