Ed- ward Kennedy (D.—Mass.) said the United States should increase sharply its contribu- tions for the relief of Pales- tinian refugees in the Middle East and should encourage other nations to help. According to Associated NEW YORK (JTA) — Valery and Galina Panov credited their release from the Soviet Union to emigrate to Israel to the world-wide public campaign conducted for them. Panov, who arrived in New York with his wife last week for an Ameican tour, told a press conference that "you gave us life because you stirred up public . opinion" and urged continuation of such efforts. Panov praised Sen. Henry M. Jackson, the Washington Democrat, for demanding that Soviet Jews be guaran- teed the right to emigrate in exchange for -U.S. , trade concessions. He described the KGB's harassment and jailings of himself and his wife as a deliberate effort to destroy the ballet dancers mentally, physically and as artists. Panov said he and his wife. "plan to make our home and our base in Israel, and eventually recruit dancers from around the world, as well as teach and train Israelis, to form a classical ballet company there, the first one ever in that coun- try." Their first professional per- formance in the United States will be held Dec. 10 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Proceeds will go toward fi- nancing activities on behalf of Soviet Jewry. After a London appearance to tape a BBC special. they will re- turn to the U.S. for a per- formance in Washington on Dec, 17 and at the Los An- geles Shrine Auditorium Jan. 4 and Jan. 5. They are sched- uled to return to Israel next March. • Orchestras • Entertainment • Speakers • Concerts Downtown Detroit - 962-$000 SALE RUTH SCHWARTZ AND ASSOCIATES PublicityHelped Kennedy Asks More Aid for Palestinians MAGICIAN RUSSELL SCHREIBER ASSOCIATES: Holiday • Cocktail Tables Parsons Tables • Wall Groupings • Mini Mirrors • Chain Lamps • Wall Lamps • Table Lamps • Wall Shelves • Metal Sculptures • Lucite Accessories • Serving Platters • Salad Sets • Cake Platters THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Corner of Maple Old Orchard Plaza BIG • Etageres • Consoles • Tables • Pictures • Mirrors • Paintings • Sconces • Clocks • Ceramics • Statues • Ash Trays • Vases • Planters • Decanters 50—Friday, Nov. 29, 1974 • l fly ! 41411'111f 5 r;
