Education Gift
Plan Revealed

JERUSALEM—In a major
response to soaring 'U.S. col-
lege costs, the Bnai Brith
Youth Organization is launch-
ing a "Gift of Education"
plan, offering qualified U.S.
students two years of college
is Israel — expenses "pre-
paid" and tuition free — it
was announced at the 13nai
Brith Triennial Convention,
by Mrs. Louis L. Perlman,
chairman of the Bnai Brith
youth commission.
According to Mrs. Perl-
man, the plan is specifically
designed to supplement a
student's U.S. college educa-
tion, by offering parents a
systematic savings program.
The parents' completed plan
covers expected living ex-
penses and free tuition for
two full, consecutive years'
study at leading Israeli uni-
versities, collegeS and voca-
tional schools.
Among the schools partici-
pating in the plan are He-
brew University of Jerusa-
lem, Technion-Israel Institute
of Technology, the University
of Tel Aviv, Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity, University of Haifa, Ru-
bin Academy of Music and
the Weitzmann Institute of
Science. The full list includes
teachers' colleges, art schools,
nursing and physiotherapy
schools and many others.
The plan enables parents
to make small, regular pay-
ments in advance—over a
four- to eight-year period.
The completed payments,
plus accrued interest, cover
the student's expected month-
ly living expenses, for the
24-month period. This stu-
dent allowance is available in
amounts of $100, $120 and
$150 per month."
