U.S. Arms to Israel
Remain the Same

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
State Department and the
Pentagon disagreed with Is-
raeli Information Minister
Aharon Yariv's statement
last week that Israel has
been assured by the United
States of "an important ad-
ditional amount of arms."
State Department spokes-
man Paul Hare said no
change has taken place in
U.S. arms deliveries and de-
scribed reports that • they are
being increased as "not ac-
curate." Hare said "there
has been no such 'speedup."
_ A Pentagon spokesman
said "it is clear nothing hap-
pened last 'week" when De-
tense Secretary James
Schlesinger met with Isaeli
Ambassador S'imha Dinitz.
Schlesinger himself said that
"no dramatic change" has
taken place "in the historical
supply relationship with Is-
rael with respect to military
equipment."
