Show of Nazi Art
Comes Under Fire

LONDON — The Frankfurt
Art Association's exhibition
"Art in the Third Reich" has
brought the association under
heavy criticism.
The exhibition displays
large statues of Aryan work-
ers, pastel idealizations of
German womanhood and
glorifications of soldiers and
workers described by anti-
Fascist commentaries, and
takes up three floors of the
association's exhibit hall.
Youngsters visiting the ex-
hibit reportedly were sneer-
ing at what they saw. The
association received so much
criticism that - it set up a
graffiti board for comments
in the entrance hall.
The association reported
that the Major aim of the
commentaries was to show
that Nazi art was really prop-
aganda. "We wanted to coun-
ter the effects of all the
books, magazine articles and
movie that have been coming
out recently about the Hitler
period," an aide said
