DOES A JUDGE PRAC-
TICE what he preaches?
. . Ask Genesee County
C ircuit Court Judge Donald
R. Freeman of Flint, who
recently had a gent in front
of him pleading guilty to a
non-violent felony . .. When
Don asked him if he had any
thing to say before being
sentenced, the than said,
"The only time I get into
trouble is when I don't listen
to my wife." . .' to which
Don replied, "Based on that,
I am going to put you on
probation. However, the most
important term of this pro-
bation is, that you must al-
ways listen to your wife." ...
Then Don, noticing a Flint
Journal reporter present in
the courtroom and that the
story would probably get
back to his wife Harriet,
added, "But you must not
tell my wife what i said."
IF IT TAKES A goon game
of tennis to further cement
marriages, Dr. Nathan Levin
and wife, Phyllis, have the
right combination . . . Dr.
Levin, chief of nephrology at
Henry Ford Hospital and
board member of the newly
formed Blood Pressure Con-
trol, is an avid tennis player
. . . so much so that he
plays during lunch hour on
the courts at Ford Hospital
. . Wife Phyllis is a tourna-
ment racquet star in her own
right .. Dr. Levhi - and
Phyllis hav
e lots of love to
keep their togetherness a
wonderful one.
CUSTOM CLOTHIER Steve
Petix offered a sucker to the
little baby who came in with
its mother . . . When mom
said the child couldn't have
one, dapper Steve just
shrugged his shoulders, and
walked away... . jutting the
sucker into his own mouth.
SIGN BY BOSSMAN Louie
Ludeman's first chair at
Dante's Barber :Shop in the
Oak Park Center, Nine Mile
and Coolidge, says, "Louie
Sharpie" . . . but should
really be "Lucky Louie" . . .
Over a Srear ago, Lou was
driving his convertible on a
country road near Romeo,
Mich. when 'three Appaloosa
horseS came in front of -his
car and he smashed into
them . . . Louie was cata-
pulted face forward into the
dashboard as one of the
horses rolled onto the hood
. . His auto was totaled as
much as his face, which
bones were crushed and 14
teeth knocked out . . . Today,
"Lucky Louie" is glad to be
alive, "thanks to not wearing
a seat belt" . . . and because
of an excellent plastic sur-
gery job his happy face is
back to normal again . . . as
"he plies .his trade with such
thankfulness . . the sec-
ond chair, Bill Cohen, at
Dante's for about eight years,
keeps muttering every time
he looks at Louie, `:I still
don't believe it!"
