to Increase Cash
Pledge to Israel

At a recent local Israel
Bond board of governors'
meeting it was resolved to
transmit another $5,000,000 to
Israel by the end of 1974.
The board also proposed
an organization flow chart
to set up committees and
chairmanships to reach the
goal. Michael Amon, chair-
man of the Israel Bond Or-
ganization was guest speaker.
- Attending the meeting were
Samuel" Hamburger, chair-
man of the advisory council,
and Mrs. Hamburger; David
Hermelin, chairman of the
commerce and industry corn-
mittee; David B. Holtzman,
chairman of the Prime Min-
ister's Club; David Pollack,
local Israel Bond chairman;
and Mrs. Pollack, chairman
of the women's division.
Meanwhile, at Hadassah's
woman of the year award
luncheon honoring Mrs. Phyl-
lis Newman, more than $117,-
000 in Israel Bonds were pur-
chased. Mrs. Ch a r l o t t e
Jacobson, chairman of the
Jewish Agency and past na-
tional president of Hadassah,
presented Mrs. Newman with
the Jerusalem City of Peace
Award.
M r s Jerome Kaufman,
president of the Metropolitan
Detroit Chapter of Hadassah,
sang in tribute to Mrs. New-
man.
