Parents on Guard
at Schools in Israel
TEL AVIV — The Israel
Ministry of Education an-
nounced in mid-September
that parents of school child-
ren can be required to pro-
vide up to 10 hours of guard
duty each month at their
children's schools. The same
rule applies to teachers and
to students past the age of 16.
Discretion will be used for
parents who have children in
two or three schools thus leg-
ally liable for 20 to 30 hours
of guarding each week and in
cases where husbands and
wives wish to divide their
duty.
