THANK YOU

At a time in world history when there is
a serious absence of leadership and a
lack of concern for the abuse of inno-
cent people, it is encouraging to see
Senator Jackson take the initiative and
play a vital role in calling attention to
acts of injustice to Jews by the Russian
government.

Senator Jackson merits the praise of
everyone opposed to tyranny — wherever
it exists. I urge letters of recognition for
his efforts.

NEW YORK •(JTA) —
Michael Arnon, the new pres-
ident and chief executive of-
ficer of the Israel Bond Or-
ganization, was officially wel-
comed by the American Zion-
ist Federation at a reception
at the Jewish Agency head-
quarters last week.
Rabbi Israel Miller, AZF
president, in welcoming Ar-
non, a former Israeli consul
general in New York, noted
that Jews everywhere have
to be interested in helping
Israel develop. "Israel is our
future," Rabbi Miller said,
adding, "we invest not mere-
ly our dollars but ourselves."
In his reply, Arnon noted
that the sale of Israel Bonds
will soon reach $3 billion and
said that there was not a
building or road in Israel in
which Israel Bonds had not
played at least a part in
bringing into existence. He
urged support for Israel
Bonds in order to allow Is-
rael to be strong enough to
prevent war, or if war be-
comes necessary to resist the
enemy.
David Rivlin, Israeli con-
sul general in New York,
noted that Israel must be
able to meet the "awesome
responjibility" of taking in
Jews from the Soviet Union
and the Arab countries when
they are allowed to emigrate.
