Ariel Sharon said that Israel is now militarily strong enough to decisively defeat the Arab armies if war again breaks out, and to defeat them on the scale of Israel's victory in the Six- Day War. He said that Israel must only accept a real peace, with all it implies about open borders, diplomatic and trade relations, and not a paper peace. The program will span four months, with the first schol- ars arriving in late October. "Scholars-in-Residence" was initiated in 1972. While in his host commu- nity, the scholar will give concentrated exposure to mat- ters of Jewish interest and to concerns of Israel. He will meet with Jewish college stu- dents on nearby campuses and with teen-agers and ad- ults from the Jewish commu- nity.
