CLARKE STUDIO On t le Air This Week'S Radio and Television Programs Business Briefs Ruth Dayan to Speak at Somerset Mall a ewry Local educator and histor- ian Allen A. Warsen, who has been a contributor to The Jewish News for many years, has published a brief "Ad- denda to Autobiographical Episodes" which follows his earlier work of 1971. He devotes four of its 14 pages to an episode in 1970 and 1971 in which he con- vinced Detroit officials to find a suitable memorial for David E. Heineman, designer of De- troit's official-flag. The effort took nearly two years and considerable cor- respondence with various city officials. Warsen's original request for information went to the manager of Detroit's City- County Building. Finding no memorial to Heineman in that building, Warsen's request was forwarded to City Clerk George C. Edwards. Another letter was sent to the Detroit Common Council. After months of persistent letter-writing on Warsen's part, the Detroit Historical Commission, at the request, of the council, studied the question of a suitable memo- rial. Nearly 20 months after making his original request, Warsen attended a ceremony at the Detroit Historical Mu- seum dedicating a stained glass window from Detroit's Old City Hall. The window contains a pic- ture of the flag that David Heineman designed, and is located next to a picture of the designer with a historical sketch of his life.
