Hebrew studies at Akiva
have been structured so that
the student cultivates an ap-
preciation of religious values
and traditions by which to
live.
-- After 10 years, Akiva now
boasts 230 students from kin-
dergarten through 12th grade,
and a faculty of 30, as well as
the unique Grade 12 in Israel
program.
According to Rabbi James
I. Gordon, chairman of
Akiva's education committee,
the school strives to bring
the best of American and
Hebrew education to the stu-
dent.
The general education pro-
gram provides an outstand-
ing secular education. Ac-
cording to Rabbi Gordon,
"The aim is to create a
wholesome Jew within whom
is integrated the secular
knowledge that fits him for
the American scene and the
spiritual wealth that enables
him to add to that scene."
