the Jerusalem City of Peace Award Sept. 10 at the annual
Israel Bond Luncheon of the Women of the Jewish National
Fund. Participating in the program. were, from left, Mrs.
Pearl Nosan, luncheon chairman; Mrs. David Pollack,
chairman of the -women's division who presented the award
to the honoree; Mrs. Sperka; Mrs. Max Stollman, - who pre-
sented a special tribute to Mrs. Sperka; and Mrs. Jules
Kraft, president of the Women of JNF. Also participating
in the program was Mrs. Emil Spilman, past president of
Mizrachi Women and a national board member of American
Mizrachi Women. More than 200 women purchased nearly
$80,000 in Israel Bonds in honor of Mrs. Sperka.

STEIN: Louise Bernstein and
John Rosenbaum were mar-
ried recently at Birmingham
Temple. Rabbi Sherwin T.
Wine officiated. The bride is
the daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
Samuel Bernstein of Notting-
ham Ln., Southfield. Parents
of the bridegroom are Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Rosenbaum of
Salt Lake City. The new Mrs.
Rosenbaum was graduated
from the University of Hawaii
and is presently working on
her PhD in anthoropology.
Her husband attends the Uni-
versity of California and is
working to w a r d a degree
in metalurgical engineering.

A new oral cancer diag-
nostic and detection service
has opened at the Michigan
Cancer Foundation's Prentis
Center. The new program is
the first of its kind in Mich-
igan and will serve as a
primary referral center for
dentists and oral surgeons in
the Detroit metropolitan re-
gion who want expert diag-
nostic confirmation of pos-
sible cases of oral cancer.
Dr. Herbert Bloom, chair-
man of the Michigan Cancer
Foundation's Head and Neck
Cancer Committee, is the
coordinator of the new oral
cancer diagnostic and detec-
tion program. An oral sur-
geon, Dr. Bloom has been
active in coordinating the
planning for the new pro-
gram and will serve as its
surgical director.
While the new oral cancer
facility will be used pri-
marily as a referral center
