Danny Raskin's

LISTENING
POST

TWISTS OF FATE enter
into the recent engagement
of Alissa Torgow, daughter
of Bonnie and Bob Torgow,
to Alan Rothstein, son of
Charlotte and Ben Rothstein
. . . Alissa's grandfather on
her father's side, Joe Tor-
gow, owned a gas station 30
years ago on Dexter and
Tuxedo, at which Charlotte's
.father, Meyer, and uncle,
Ben "Phoebe" were custom-
ers . . . They all three played
baseball together at Tyler
Playfield on Holmur and
Tyler . . . Alissa's grand-
father on her mother's side,
Manuel ,Merzon, ran in the
last primary election for
council in Oak Park . . . in
which Charlotte was one of
the victors . . . going on to
become Oak Park's first
councilwoman . . . It'll be
"old home week" when
Alissa and Man are married
in June.
CELEBRATING OPENING
OF 'her offices in Troy, real
estate gal Shirley Cash had
a shindig at her apartment
party room in Southfield .. .
Edythe Fox should have been
covered with medals . . .
made everything except the
two cold cut trays . . . and
her gourmet specialties were
super . . . Joe Medwed a
Frank Sinatra double Mel
Freedman home from hospi-
tal only three days after
heart attack, and dancing
with wife Shirley . . . putting
him back in the hospital with
another attack.
WANT A WINNER at the
race track? . . . Wait until
Friendship Builders' Allan
Rosenberg's horse, Huff 'n
Puff is going . . . Seems to
be in the money every time
. . . and has won its last
three outings.
ANY ADULT WORTH BE-
ING invited to a social affair
should also deserve the cour-
tesy of bringing a guest.
FIRST ANNIVERSARY
CONGRATS . . to Albert
and Charlotte (Goldfield)
Rosen.
HARRY MICHELSON went
to Mayo Clinic for open heart
surgery and daughter Eunice
was to go with her mother,
Rose, to be at his bedside
before the operation . . .
However, Eunice slipped and
fell at Southfield Civic Cen-
ter pool's shower room and
caused back injuries for
which she went to the doctor
. . . The doctor noticed her
ankles very swollen and had
her admitted into Providence
Hospital emergency with a
blood clot near the heart .. .
While Rose left for the air-
port, Eunice was on her way
to Providence . .. As if this
wasn't enough, hubby Jerry,
at grand opening of his
Kingsway Furniture, with all
the tension and worries,
tripped and broke his big toe
. . . They can do things for
Harry and Eunice ... but not
Jerry . . . doc says it has to
cure by itself.
TO THE PERSON who
asks where we get our infor-
mation . . . in a note attached
to a recent column . . . if
they will be man or woman

enough to give their name

to answer them . . . It's hard
to reply to nobody.
SAMMY WOOLF'S theme
song is still "When You're
Smiling" . . . even though
his favorite is "My Way."
IRVING SACKS underwent
a successful bypass heart op-.
eration with veins used from
his leg . . . and is recovering
at University of Houston Hos-
pital.
IT WAS A WISE and ex-
perienced mother who an-
nounced to a group of small
fry at her son's birthday
party, "Now remember, kids,
there will be a special prize
for the little boy who goes
home first."
FRED GROSSMAN of Gal-
lery Art Center tells of the
woman adding to her art col-
lection a watercolor that she
described to him as an "au-
thentic masterpiece." . . It
is, too, says Fred . . . It's
signed "By Pablo Master-
piece."
IN ITS' 40th YEAR of exis-
tence, form at is being
changed this year for the
annual Infants Service Group
dinner-dance . . . No show,
