Politicians are always criti-
cized for what they do wrong,
but once in a while they
deserve -credit for doing
something right.
The state legislature, which
will return for its fall session
next week, made a special
concession to its two Jewish
members — State Senators
Jack Faxon (D., Detroit) and
Daniel Cooper (D., Oak
Park)—who must wait until
sundown Wednesday when
the Rosh Hashana holiday
ends before they can go to
work.
The Senate, in deference
to Faxon and Cooper, has
rescheduled its session from
2 p.m. until 8 p.m. However,
the House, which also has
two Jewish members couldn't
be persuaded to make the
concession.

MR. AND MRS. KATZ

Dr. William Haber, Uni-
versity of Michigan profes-
sor of economics and adviser
to its executive officers, and
Mrs. Haber, recently cele-
brated their 50th wedding
anniversary in Milwaukee,
the city of their youth.
According to columnist Ed-
warde F. Perlson writing in
the Wisconsin Jewish Chron-
icle, the Habers were hon-
ored at a family dinner. In
his tribute to the Habers,
Perlson stated in part:
"What a thrill: the whole
mishpocheh of the Habers
will gather . . . to pay trib-
ute to this wonderful couple
whose adult lives have been
spent nobly and devotedly in
behest of students, fellow
human and countrymen, and
for unfortunates."
Dr. Haber is a noted econ-
omist, university dean and
the world head of the Organ-
ization for Rehabilitation and
Training (ORT).
