Detroiters to Join New Israel Bond 'Campaign

Together with communities
throughout the United States
and Canada, the Jewish com-
munity of Greater Detroit
has set aside the period from
Yom. Kippur to 'Oct. 6 (the
first anniversary of the war)
as the Shomrei Israel 10
Days of Rededication, for en-
rolling maximum. Israel
Bond support to maintain Is-
rael's economic' stability, it
was announced by David
Pollack, chairman of the
Greater Detroit Israel Bond
Committee.
Recalling the community's
unprecedented demonstration
of economic support for. Is-
rael during the war of a
year ago, Pollack empha-
sized that the backbone of
that support came from in-
dividuals and families who
purchased $1,000 or more in
Israel Bonds, which entitled
them to membership in
Shomrei Israel, the honor
society of those who watch

Bonds to Honor
Mr., Mrs. Efros

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Efros
will be the guests •of honor
at an Israel Bond Tribute
Dinner sponsored by Cong.
Beth Shalom, 6:30 p.m. Oct.
6 at the synagogue.
The dinner which will
mark the anniversary of the
Yom Kippur Day War, will
pay tribute to the Efros

over and promote Israel's
progress.
Pollack explained that the
people of Israel are utilizing
all of their resources for de-
fense, with the result that
they are unable to finance
the country's economic de-
velopment program and the
creation of jobs for new im-
migrants from the Soviet
Union and elsewhere.
He stressed that Israel
Bonds, which have been the
major source of funds for Is-
rael's annual development
budget for almost 25 years,
are now more important
than ever.
Pollack stated that the
Shomrei Israel 10 Days of
Rededication will be
launched in hundreds of syn-
agogues in the U.S. and Can-
ada through special Israel
Bond appeals during the
Yom Kippur services in
memory of the 3,000 Israelis
who fell in the war.
He said the 10-day effort
will culminate Oct. 6, which
has been designated as
Shomrei Israel National Day
of Rededication. On that day,
special committees of volun-
teers will start out from
breakfast meetings in syn-
agogues and organizations to
enroll the maximum number
of Jewish families as Shorn-
rei Israel, families who pur-
chase $1,000 or more in Is-
rael Bonds.
