Both women are division leaders, and will recruit and train other women for the campaign, which begins Oct. 15. Among the area leaders from Oak Park and Hunting- ton Woods are Mesdames W. H. Snyder, Osmon Jacobson, Joseph Newman and Joseph Fritsch. The 1974 Torch Drivt will provide operating funds for nearly 140 health and com- munity agencies in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb coun- ties, including the Jewish Center, Jewish Family and Children's Service, Jewish Vocational Service and the Fresh Air Society. In a letter to The Jewish News this week, Agudath Israel of America, the ex- treme Orthodox movement, categorically denied that its -Israel counterpart will sign an agreement pledging to support the (Israel) coalition government in return for as- surances that the religious "situation will remain un- changed. The letter, in response to a Jewish Telegraphic Agency item which appeared in the Aug. 16 issue of The Jewish News, stated in part: "We wish to advise you that this report was imme- diately branded by the Agu- dath Israel organization in Israel as false.
