Bnai Brith Women Set Annual
Fall Festival at Adat Shalom

Bnai Brith Women's Coun-
cil of Metropolitan Detroit
will have its annual fall fes-
tival 10 a.m. Sept. 12 at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Boutique browsing will be
accompanied by champagne
and hors d'oeuvres. Luncheon
will be served at noon, follow-
ed by a fashion show, with
Mrs. Charles Himelhoch as
commentator. Special recog-
nition will be given to wom-
en who are Life Members of
Bnai Brith Women. There
will be prizes.
The event, which culmi-
nates the council's summer
membership campaign,
"Sweeten your World—Join
Bnai Brith Women", is plan-
ned by the council's member-
ship cabinet, headed by Mes-
dames Robert Ellis, Sylvia
Ross and Paul Newman.
Others serving on the mem-
bership cabinet are Mes-
dames Allen Weitzman, ad-
viser; Harold A. Robinson,
life membership; David Le-
vine, expansion; Sidney Brad-
ley, Philip Cutle r, Josef
Feuereisen, Isadore Perl-
mutter, Mark Klinger and
Leonard Saltz.
The festival will honor all
members of Bnai Brith Wom-
en and is oven to women
who have naid their current
years' dues or who have poin-
ed the organization since Jan.
1 of this year.

Following up on the suc-
cess of last year's Festival,
there are plans for an ex-
panded boutique and flea
market, according to Mrs.
Philip Edelheit, boutique co-
ordinator. Additional booths
will feature coral carvings,
pottery, lucite pieces and
needlepoint. Assisting Mrs.
Edelheit are:

white elephants; Sidney Eidelrnan,
paper and gift boutique; Gerald
Gorzeck, dried flowers; Albert
Heller, baked goods; Irving Issacs
and Jack Freeman, aid to Jewish
retardates; Mark Klinger, plants;
Harold Rowe and Eugene Paul,
jewelry; Al Stein needlepoint;
and Gordon Fruitman, handbags.

Mrs. Irving Pomish is in
charge of decorations; Mrs.
Carl Pearl is in charge of
volunteers; and Mrs. Jack
Levine, will coordinate the
fashion show.

fair are available through
Bnai Brith Women's chapters

Chicken in Wine
and Apple Sauce

There seems to be no end
to the variety of ways to pre-
pare chicken, and the inter-
est in new recipes involving
chicken is always high. Here
is a new taste that you might
want to prepare for your din-
ner guests.

2 chickens (fryers), cut up
salt, flour, oil
For the sauce:
3 /4 cup wine (red)
cup soy sauce
2 cloves garlic (minced)
3 /4 tsp. ginger

dash of powdered cloves
3 tblsp. margarine
cup lemon juice.
Place chicken pieces in brown

flour. Brown chicken in oil. Take
a large sheet of heavy duty foil
(large enough to line pan and
fold over and seal) and place in
a 9x13-inch pan. Place chicken on
foil. Heat sauce ingredients and
pour over the chicken. Fold foil
securely. Bake at 400 degrees for
40 minutes. Serve hot.

man, John Anstandig, dis-
tributed awards to the follow-
ing lodges "for outstanding
retention work" at the coun-
cil's August meeting: Detroit,
Marshall—Suburban, Down-

Oakland County Commission-

A native of Philadelphia,
Toll earned his law degree
