THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, August 30, 1974-33 Dystrophy Telethon Needs Volunteers More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to answer phones and record pledges during the 20-hour-long Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon for Mus- cular Dystrophy on Sunday and Monday. Volunteers age 18 and over can report to the telephone center nearest their home for five hour shifts. Centers in- clude Northland, Eastland, Westland and Pontiac shop- ping centers, and the Shera- ton-Cadillac Hotel. Persons wishing to volun- teer may call telethon head- quarters, 399-8805. Representatives of organi- zations in the Jewish com- munity are invited to appear on camera during locally televised segments of the telethon. The show will emanate live from the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas with hourly cut aways to WKBD, Channel 50.
