sary of Mr. and Mrs. Zelik H. Karbal of Monica Ave.
included grandchildren,. Mrs. Harvey (Carol) Spelkin of
Woodland Hills, Calif.; Barbara Bialick of Pittsburgh, and
Howard ,B•alick. Also attending the party were their chil-
dren, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Karbal, Mr. and Mrs. George
Karbal and Mr. and Mrs. Louis (Esther) Bialick; grand-
children, Dr. and Mrs. Michael Karbal and great-grand-
children, Miriam and Benjamin Karbal. The senior Karbals
are members of Cong. Bnai Jacob. Mrs. Karbal held vari-
ous posts at the synagogue. The Karbals were born in
Russia, came to U.S. in 1913, and were married here in 1914.

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hornung of Addison Ave., South-
field, welcomed home their son Rick (Sahar), returning
on a one month furlough from the Israeli army with his
Sabra wife, Leora. Rick is a tankist stationed on the Sinai
Front. He has been in Israel for nearly four years working
on a kibutz. A kidush in their honor is planned at Cong.
Bnai Israel. Rick's sister, Toby also recently returned
home from a year's stay in Israel.

Park, have just returned from a two week vacation in

Prof. Gerald M. Meister,
director of the Ramapo Insti-
tute for Research in political
science, international rela-
tions and international law,
will speak in behalf of the
Israel Bond campaign at JNF
Israel Bond luncheon honor-

A member of the national
executive committee of the
Zionist Organization of Amer-
ica, Prof. Meister has also
served as the assistant di-
rector of its department of
public affairs and the depart-
ment of Soviet Jewry.
He is also a member of the
board of directors of the New
Jersey Region of the Jewish
National Fund, and has
worked with the JNF as a
consultant on Soviet Jewry.
Prof. Meister is a noted
scholar and linguist, being
fluent in Hebrew, Yiddish,
English, French, German and
Italian. He has taught and
lectured on medieval and

theology in universities and
seminaries throughout t h e
United States. He has studied
in Israel, England and the
United States, and in Israeli
rabbinical seminaries and
yeshivot.
During his youth, he partic-

sky.
In 1963 he directed the Is-

Leumi Le-Israel in New York
