COME DISCOVER WHY

22—Friday, August 23, 1974 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Danny Raskin's

LISTENING
POST

OF THE 200 GUESTS that
recently attended a wedding
in Los Angeles, says Herb
and Ann Owens, at least 125
were Detroiters and former
Detroiters ... including-Her-
man "Turk" Prujansky . .
who wrote and sung "To Me"
as the bride walked down the
aisle . . . Robyn Oshinsky,
daughter of Selma and Paul
Oshinsky, formerly of De-
troit and Livonia, was wed
to Sam Rousso of Ventura,
Calif. . . . From out-of-town
came localites and ex-local-
ites Ed and Rose Oshinsky,
Miami Beach; Herb and
Ann, Oak Park; Bill and
Ruth Schoenfield and daugh-
ter Tina, Dayton O.; Chuck
and Bettie Fields, Oak Park;
Morris and Mirian Altman,
Orchard Lake: Mariam Alt-
man, Mt. Clemens; Max
Freedman, Ferndale, and
Lou Gordon and frau of Hol-
lendale, Fla. . . . "Was like
going to a reunion," says
Ann.

SPEAKING OF REUN-
IONS, time is drawing close
for that 1949 class of Ce9tral
High shindig . . . It's Oct.
13 at Raleigh House . . .
Contact Sally Lebowitz Le-
vine, 545-7447 or Adell Ab-
romovitch Ozrovitz, 545-6163.

IF YOU'RE WALKING
ALONG and hear a whistler
tooting out some old songs,
could be that it is George
Bremen, one of the best ath-
letes produced by Detroit
. . . (Remember Georgie Ab-
romovitz from Codd Field?)
THREE OF FOURSOME
playing tennis at Knob-In-
the-Woods Apts. courts re-
cently ... Milt Stein and Ted
Sam vs. Shirley Stein and
Karl Berg, had something in
common other than that all
four wielded their rackets
with knowhow . . . Milt,
Shirley and Ted wore the
same style and design tennis
shoes . . . However, Karl
was the only one smart
enough to have swimming
trunks underneath, which he
bared and then went for a re-
freshing plunge in the Knob
pool . . . Milt was to start
his diet the next day . . .
again!

GET WELL WISHES TO
. . . Iry Sacks, Room B-412
at Harper Hospital . . . and
Rose Golman, Room 135 at
New Grace Hospital.
COMMUNITY SCENE . . .
Vacancy sign on an apart-
meht that is more crowded
than the middle-man on a to-
tern pole . . . and a mile-
long waiting list . . . Must
have been put there by some
fun-loving wag . . . but to tell
that to apartment searchers.
HOW ABOUT COMMUN-
ITY clean-up campaigns .. .
and old clothes for needy .. .
Any organizations interested?
Wonder IF there are any
shoemakers left who put soles
and - heels on your shoes
cheaper than what the shoes
cost in the first place? -
HERE'S A DIG that dug
deep .. • as reported by An-
nette Cohen(Sy) . . . who
attended a recent house par-
ty in the community . .

Enjoy the New and Different
Tantalizing Tastes of

Most of the folks were leav-
ing and one fellow who had
crashed the affair, said good-
bye to the hostess, thanking
her for the fun . . . "I'm
glad you enjoyed it—remind
me to ask you next time,"
she cordially replied.
RECENT EVENING HAD-
no less than three big affairs,
including the Jewish Nation-
al Fund testimonial for Mor-
ris and Tillie Brandwine .. .
This whole business of dat-
ing mix-up is nothing but
downright irresponsibility . . .
and complete disregard for
the Jewish Community Coun-
cil calendar . . . The JNF;
we know, ha _ d their date
cleared with the council a
year in advance . . If
groups want crowds these
days, they'd better not pick
a date when the pie is sliced
too much.
