In a letter to Secretary General Kurt Waldheim, Is- rael's UN Ambassador Yosef Tekoah characterized as "a sheer fabrication" Syria's contention that Israeli Air Force jets had penetrated Syrian air space at the time the UN plane went down. According to the Syrian version, the UN plane was hit by Syrian missiles fired at invading Israeli aircraft. Tekoah called the Syrian claim "a transparent and fu- tile attempt to involve Israel in this tragic disaster for which Syria alone is respon- sible." The allegation that Israeli planes had penetrated, Syrian air space at the time the United Nations plane was downed "is a sheer fabrica- tion which is categorically rejected," Tekoah stated in his letter to Waldheim. "The Israel defense forces spokesman has already an- nounced that there was no Israeli aerial activity in the area when the United Nations aircraft was shot down by the Syrian armed forces," Tekoah said. The Israeli denial appeared to be supported by a discrep- ancy noted by observers here BEST P R I in sight Why pay top dollar for great looking quality glasses? SHAPIRO SPEAKS OUT When I decided to run for Judge of the 46th District Court, I did so because I felt that many areas of the Judicial system were ripe for new ideas. And it was time that the Courts increase their dedication to work for the public's benefit. That is why during'the primary campaign I ari- nounced that if elected I would institute a 24- hour-a-day "HOT LINE", start a NIGHT COURT, publicize SMALL CLAIMS COURT and involve the judiciary in an effective CRIME PREVEN- TION PROGRAM. I presented these ideas to the voters and I would like to thank them for their affirmative respone. Their message was loud and clear — it's time for a change. For the upcoming campaign, I intend to pre- sent further new thinking about the Courts and I would like to hear suggestions from the Dis- trict voters as well. Just a few months ago Regina F. Shapiro was a relathrely unknown lawyer in Southfield,_ and looking at the election results, I think the point is Clear—Creative thinking has a place in the Courts and I hope to bring it to the 46th District.
