Israel Information Ministry May Be Ended

Peres to Address Bond Conference

NEW YORK—Israel Minis-
ter of Defense, Shimon 'Peres,
will be the principal speaker
at the 1974 fall international
leadership conference to in-
augurate . a campaign to pro-
vide immediate and large-
' scale economic aid to Israel
through the Israel Bond pro-
gram.
The conference, to be held
from Sept. 6-8 at the Shera-

Montreal, will bring together
prominent Jewish community
leaders from the United
States and Canada to plan
intensified activities for a
maximum sale of Israel

which still does not have a
fixed budget.

opinion have developed be-

tween the information minis-
try and the foreign ministry
over allocation of functions,
particularly concerning Is-
raeli information policies
overseas.
Aharon Yariv, the informa
tion ministry's first head,
reportedly' accepted the min-
istry with little enthusiasm.
He has now said that if Is-
rael's current financial
crunch does not allow for
even a minimum operation
of the ministry, the govern-
ment should consider whether
it really wants to have such
